As we approach the longest day we need to be alert to the beauty of the Countryside. I have been reading a book on the Egan Family history and finding it a great social commentary on rural living in Roscommon and Longford. Best known to you would be the historian Paddy and the star ploughman Eamonn of Glanmore at Kenagh in Longford.I was down last Sunday with Poor Clares in Drumshanbo as they celebrated 140 years of unbroken Eucharistic Adoration. I want you to log on to a site called Vultus Christi for more. You latin scholars will know the translation as the Face of Christ. Congratulations to them .I have turf cut if you want to spend a day on the bog.
